Once you’ve learned production and developed your own sound, the next step is learning the in’s and outs of the Music Business. In The Business of Music, students learn how their music makes money, how to create a brand, distribute, release and promote music and how to organize and run their business. This course caters to both those looking to step into the Music Industry as an artist, as well as those looking to run their own DIY business.

Meet your instructor, Flakes.

Will is a quintessential musician, producer and performer. After completing prestigious Berklee’s Music Production & Sound Design Program in three years, he went on to create his solo project, Flakes, and has amassed nearly 1 Million streams on Spotify. If that’s wasn’t impressive enough, he’s also a world class pianist (since the age of 5) that has shared the stage with world renown acts like Flume & Porter Robinson.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  1. Students will learn about the ways that music makes money
  2. Students determine an overall brand and image to represent their music, and create a written plan to grow and present that brand to the world
  3. Students will learn about all aspects of the music business, from the basics that they can do on their own, to the makeup and operations of larger labels and agencies
  4. Students will learn about the various general areas of business, like choosing a business structure, accounting, legal and more.

*Not all students will qualify for a payment plan. A payment plan application may be required. All payment plans are subject to credit and income verification.
